Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)
If you are wondering how to become a Christian, through baptism, first communion or confirmation, the RCIA programme is your next step. It is designed for adults to journey towards the fullness of Christian life.
We know that this could be a big step for you. We can assure you that the parish will support you along the way, answering your questions and concerns, in the realisation that everyone’s journey with God is different.
Practical Details
RCIA is a weekly evening programme which is designed to help you discover the teaching of the Catholic Church and prepare you for the sacraments. It is designed to foster both personal faith and church life, with a special attention to fellowship.
Whether you are discovering or reconnecting with Christian faith, we encourage you to start by joining the Alpha Course which normally commences in October before entering the RCIA programme.
The RCIA programme itself will then start during the Spring. Those enrolled on the programme will receive the sacrament (Baptism, Holy Communion, Confirmation) during the Easter Vigil Mass.
Fortunately, the programme does not conclude with the sacrament! It is ongoing until the summer following Easter. Afterwards, members are expected to join the life of the parish.
