The Sacred Heart of Jesus Devotion
June is the month dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in which we remember with a special devotion the loving mercy. He has on us and on the whole world.
Jesus in Matthew 11:29 says “take my yoke and put it on you, and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit; and you will find rest.”
On December 27, 1673, a French cloistered Visitation Nun named Sister Margaret Mary Alacoque received the first of four visions in which Jesus revealed His Sacred Heart and His desire that a feast be instituted in its honour.
In her visions, Jesus also made twelve promises to those who would honour the Sacred Heart:
“I will give them all the graces necessary for their state of life.
I will establish peace in their families.
I will console them in all their troubles.
They shall find in My Heart an assured refuge during life and especially at the hour of their death.
I will pour abundant blessings on all their undertakings.
Sinners shall find in My Heart the source of an infinite ocean of mercy.
Tepid souls shall become fervent.
Fervent souls shall speedily rise to great perfection.
I will bless the homes where an image of My Heart shall be exposed and honoured.
I will give to priests the power of touching the most hardened hearts.
Those who propagate this devotion shall have their names written in My Heart, never to be effaced.
The all-powerful love of My Heart will grant to all those who shall receive Communion on the First Friday of nine consecutive months the grace of final repentance; they shall not die under my displeasure, nor without receiving their Sacraments; My heart shall be their assured refuge at that last hour.”
Many successors of St. Peter proclaimed the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus as a divine gift offered to the Church by the Lord Himself. Thus this devotion has the highest seal of approval by calling it “the most excellent form of pity and the best school of Divine Love”.
Our Mother’s Immaculate Heart is the perfect way to imitate and all the Saints can inspire us to live more Christ-like life.
“Most Sacred, most loving Heart of Jesus, Who is concealed in the Holy Eucharist, make my heart beat with you”. (St. John Henry Newman)
