Next Step
Dear Parishioners. I hope you have had a good summer.
In recent weeks I have shared with you how we can all be involved in the parish. As you know, belonging means to receive for ourselves and also share back to the parish community (time, finances, skills…). If you missed Mass last Sunday, I encourage you to have a look at the volunteer form (available in the entrance hall and online). We received about 100 forms which is a real success. Thank you very much for your involvement.
I also shared how I want to focus on how we can be fed and how our parish can help me grow in my faith and support me. I want to help us to discern which is my next step for this year, because as you know, faith is a journey. (personal and as brothers and sisters in Christ).
I encourage you to go on the website to see everything offered by the parish and I would like to attract your attention to few things:
Cockfosters Sharing Groups (CSG): The purpose of these small groups is to grow in faith through personal sharing of our lives in the light of the scriptures. 7 to 10 people meet once every three or four weeks. Starting Friday 30 September 7.30pm
Alpha: is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. (Starting Thursday 6 October 7.30 to 9.00pm)
Our common home project: “Climate change, which pushes our sisters and brothers across the world deeper into poverty, is just one symptom of a much bigger problem about how we organise our common home, the Earth.” This connects to the Green Abbey in Cornwall.
Spiritual exercises: The Spiritual Exercises are a five to seven day journey listening to God, to experience the best of the Ignatian tradition. The next session 5-12 November at Storrington.
Being Together Club (BT Club): Runs weekly sessions providing parishioners who are retired, approaching retirement or feel they would enjoy the company of others, to meet socially and build friendships. Each Thursday between 1.30 and 3.30pm.
