JESUS, I TRUST IN YOU!

Through this period of unrest and suffering in the world, we are reminded of the greatness of God’s love and mercy for humanity. God knows we are suffering and wants to help.

He wants to forgive and heal us. This is the definition of Divine Mercy – love encountering suffering and taking action to do something about it.

St Maria Faustina is a great prophet of the Divine Mercy, who received a series of revelations in 1930 directly from Jesus who told her “you will prepare the world for my final coming”. Her mission to remind the world of God’s great mercy as revealed in scripture. In 1993 St Faustina was beatified by St Pope John Paul II and in 2000 he canonized her as the first Saint of the new millennium and established “Divine Mercy Sunday”. In 2002 the Holy Father entrusted the world to the Divine Mercy.

We can receive God’s mercy by -

  • Asking for God’s Mercy – Appeal to God’s compassion

  • Being merciful to each other – Forgiveness is one of the greatest gifts we have

  • Completely trusting in God’s Mercy – Surrender our will to God

There are 5 channels of Grace to Divine Mercy

  1. The Feast of Divine Mercy — This is the second Sunday following Easter – the 8th day after the resurrection, which is also know as the Octave of Easter. It is a feast day for honouring and worshiping, giving praise and thanks.

  2. Image of Divine Mercy — This is the image of Jesus as he appeared to St Faustina. The red and pale rays depict the source of blood and water which gushed from Jesus’ side after the crucifixion.

  3. Hour of Mercy 3pm — Jesus died at 3pm and the hour between 3-4pm is considered the ‘Hour of Great Mercy’. This is the time to immerse yourself in mercy, adoring and glorifying the Lord for the whole world and for the poor sinners

  4. Novena of Chaplets — Novenas are a 9-day prayer but the Divine Mercy Novena is different, in that novenas are generally for our intentions; however the Divine Mercy Novena is for God’s intention, for God’s will.

  5. Chaplet of Divine Mercy — The Chaplet is prayed on rosary beads and takes approximately 8 minutes to pray. The chaplet promises that we will receive great mercy at the hour of death.

The Divine Mercy Prayer Group meets every Monday in the Church straight after the 11am mass and all are welcome to join us.

Jesus’ promise made through St Faustina is – “I will protect the homes in which the Divine Mercy Image is found”.
