Season of Creation 2024 - Parish Events
The Season of Creation Novena to St Francis for a world under threat
We ask you to join Christians around the world in this novena of prayer - nine days to focus on thanking God for Creation but recognising that through our action we have spoiled the Earth and caused our brothers and sisters across the world to suffer. To help each of us, this weekend in the large hall there is an exhibition of nine artworks produced by parishioners on this theme and there are prayer sheets to take away.

Season of Creation Lunch
This is on Sunday 29th September after the 11am Mass. It will be a vegetarian lunch kindly provided by Lizzie’s Cucina. There will be a licensed bar selling beer, soft drinks and Fairtrade wine. This was very successful last time. Tickets with a suggested donation of £10 for adults and £5 for children are available after all Masses, or from the Parish Office. There will be a raffle with proceeds going to charity.
Pope Francis has said:
“Despite all attempts to deny, conceal, gloss over or relativize the issue, the signs of climate change are here and increasingly evident. No one can ignore the fact that in recent years we have witnessed extreme weather phenomena, frequent periods of unusual heat, drought and other cries of protest on the part of the Earth that are only a few palpable expressions of a silent disease that affects everyone. I ask everyone to accompany this pilgrimage of reconciliation with the world that is our home and to help make it more beautiful.”
