Close to God in Difficult Times
“God is more intimate to me than I am to myself” (St Augustine, Confessions)
This experience of unity with God runs through the work of all the great spiritual masters. It can be easy to experience the presence of God when good things happen to us. In challenging times – when perhaps we need to feel God’s presence most urgently – many of us struggle. On this morning we will turn to the wisdom of the Psalms and various spiritual teachers for insight. Periods of Christian meditation will refresh us.
Josie von Zitzewitz has been meditating for 20 years and is a regular contributor to our programme. She is an oblate of the World Community for Christian Meditation.
